Our hope at Myndfulness Matters is to help others find their MY! MY mindful practice is all about owning my story, enjoying the journey while I live passionately to give the best version of myself to others in my life. Life can be challenging! Especially with everything that is going on in the world right now. Take time to take care of yourself! Here are a few strategies that may lend themselves to a moment of calm for you or someone you care about.
Breathing exercises can help calm your nervous system and bring about an awareness of your body. When you are feeling a strong emotion, cortisol is released throughout the body and the amygdala part of the brain is activated which will take us to fight, flight or freeze. Taking slow breaths in, counting to 4, pausing at the top, and exhaling for 6. Repeating 3 times can help the body and mind recover.
Gratitude is a great way to remind you of the positive things in your life. Studies show that only 21 days of intentionally recognizing things in your life that you are grateful for will rewire the brain to lead to happiness. Neuroplasticity at its finest! In a journal that is meaningful to you, jot down a few things each day that bring you joy!
Visualize a place that brings you peace. Are you on a beach, sitting in the sand, listening to the waves crash on the shore? Are you in the forest, listening to the leaves rustle in the wind, and smelling the scent of pine trees? Wherever you are, close your eyes and use your senses to really experience this place.
Set an Intention or aspiration to help motivate you to learn and grow. Do you want to be more patient, kind to others or yourself? Spend each day reflecting on how your actions throughout the day supported your intention. Celebrate your successes and be patient with yourself on the harder days.

Love you guys...Love this!!!
